Video news release

A pre-packaged video segment produced by a public relations firm, corporation, or government agency for distribution to television news outlets. These segments are designed to look like independent news reports but serve to promote the producer's products, services, or point of view. Federal Communications Commission regulations require broadcasters to clearly disclose the source of any video news release they air to avoid misleading the public.
