Shipment value

The monetary worth of goods being transported, as declared by the shipper on the bill of lading or other shipping documents. This declared value is used to determine shipping rates, carrier liability, and the amount of insurance coverage required to protect against loss or damage during transit. For international shipments, customs authorities use this value to assess applicable duties and taxes.
