Aeolian tones
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003325
Musical or whistling sounds produced when wind flows past an obstacle, such as wires, poles, or tree branches, causing the air to shed vortices. These tones are a result of the Karman vortex street phenomenon, where alternating vortices are shed from the object. The frequency of the sound depends on the wind speed and the object's dimensions.
