Vortex cloud street

A regular pattern of parallel cloud bands that form downwind of an obstacle, such as an island or mountain. These clouds develop in the updraft regions of a series of alternating vortices shed from the obstacle. They are a visible manifestation of a Kármán vortex street in the atmosphere.
