All-weather airport

An airport equipped with advanced navigation aids, lighting systems, and air traffic control procedures that permit aircraft operations under nearly all meteorological conditions, including low visibility and adverse weather. These facilities enable instrument flight rules (IFR) approaches and departures even when visual flight rules (VFR) are not possible. Such airports conform to specific International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) operational categories.
