Antenna limit

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003553

The lowest linear depolarization ratio that a polarimetric weather radar can measure reliably, set by the cross-polarization leakage of the antenna itself. Any real depolarization weaker than this floor is masked by the antenna's own coupling between orthogonal polarizations. Typical values are around minus 30 to minus 35 decibels.
