Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003702

A type of layered ice formation that occurs in cold regions when groundwater or river water repeatedly freezes as it emerges onto the surface. Also known as overflow ice or icing, it forms in successive sheets, often accumulating to considerable thickness over riverbeds, springs, or drainage areas.
