Glaze storm
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005990
A weather event characterized by the accumulation of a layer of ice, known as glaze, on exposed surfaces. This occurs when supercooled rain freezes upon impact with objects whose surface temperature is at or below freezing. The ice accretion can cause widespread damage to trees, power lines, and infrastructure, with ice thickness sometimes exceeding several centimeters.
