Avalanche wind

A powerful, turbulent blast of air preceding a large, fast-moving avalanche. This wind is generated by the displacement and compression of air as the snow mass descends rapidly. It can cause damage and fatalities even before the snow itself arrives, extending the destructive reach of the avalanche.
