Climatic index

A numerical value derived from one or more climatic variables that quantifies a specific aspect of climate or its impact. These indices simplify complex climatic information into a single, interpretable number, such as the Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI) or the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) index. They are used for monitoring, forecasting, and assessing climate-related phenomena.
