Compound hydrograph
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004559
A graph of streamflow versus time that shows the effects of multiple, overlapping runoff events from separate precipitation periods. The hydrograph does not return to the baseflow condition between storms, resulting in a complex shape with multiple peaks that are not clearly separated. Analyzing such a hydrograph requires hydrograph separation techniques to estimate the contribution of each individual storm event to the total streamflow.
