Synthetic hydrograph
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009482
A hydrograph constructed for a point on a stream where no historical streamflow data is available, used to estimate the runoff response to a rainfall event. Its shape is determined by analyzing the physical characteristics of the watershed, including its area, slope, shape, land use, and soil type. Common methods for developing a synthetic hydrograph include the Snyder method and the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) curvilinear or triangular unit hydrograph procedures.
