Instantaneous unit hydrograph

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006567

A theoretical hydrograph representing the direct runoff response of a watershed to an instantaneous input of one unit of effective rainfall over the entire basin. It is a conceptual tool used in hydrology to model the linear response of a catchment to rainfall. The instantaneous unit hydrograph can be used to derive the runoff response for any arbitrary rainfall event.
