Basin response

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003851

The hydrological behavior of a drainage basin in reaction to a precipitation event, characterized by changes in streamflow, water levels, and sediment transport. It encompasses the entire process from rainfall input to runoff generation and discharge at the basin outlet. The basin response is typically represented by a hydrograph, showing the temporal variation of streamflow.
