Rising limb
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008585
The initial segment of a hydrograph that shows an increase in streamflow or river discharge following a precipitation event. This portion of the curve reflects the period when water from rainfall or snowmelt is actively reaching the stream channel. The steepness of the rising limb indicates the rapidity of the basin's response to the input of water.
