Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008586

The phase of the tide during which the water level in a coastal area or estuary is increasing, moving from low tide towards high tide. This upward movement of water is driven by gravitational forces from the Moon and Sun, which create bulges in the ocean. The duration of a rising tide typically lasts about six hours.
