Lunar atmospheric tide
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007065
The periodic oscillation of the Earth's atmosphere resulting from the gravitational attraction of the Moon. This tide creates small but measurable fluctuations in surface atmospheric pressure, with a primary period of about 12.42 hours, which is half a lunar day. The amplitude of the lunar atmospheric tide is much smaller than that of the solar atmospheric tide, reaching a maximum of around 0.1 hectopascals at the equator.
