Gravitational tide
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006040
The periodic deformation of the Earth's atmosphere, oceans, and solid body caused by the gravitational pull of the Moon and Sun. These forces create bulges in the atmosphere, leading to atmospheric tides that influence pressure and wind patterns. Atmospheric tides have periods related to the lunar and solar cycles.
