Bodily tides
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003964
The deformation of the solid Earth caused by the gravitational forces of the Moon and the Sun. These forces create bulges in the Earth's crust, similar to oceanic tides, resulting in periodic vertical and horizontal displacements of the land surface. The amplitude of these displacements is typically on the order of tens of centimeters.
