Spring tide

  1. A tide that occurs when the gravitational forces of the sun and moon combine to produce the largest tidal range, resulting in unusually high high tides and low low tides. This phenomenon happens twice each lunar month, during the new moon and full moon phases. It is not related to the spring season.

  2. A tide higher than normal which occurs around the time of the new and full moon.
