Perigean tide
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007855
An unusually high tide that occurs when the Moon is at its perigee, its closest point to Earth in its elliptical orbit. At this time, the Moon's gravitational pull on Earth's oceans is strongest, resulting in higher high tides and lower low tides than average. These tides are typically more pronounced when perigee coincides with a new or full moon, known as a perigean spring tide.
