Neap range
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007489
The relatively small difference between high and low tide that occurs during neap tides. This reduced tidal range happens when the gravitational forces of the moon and sun are at right angles to each other, partially canceling each other out. Neap ranges occur twice a month, around the first and third quarter moon phases.
