Equilibrium solar tide
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005438
The theoretical tide that would be produced by the gravitational forces of the Sun on a hypothetical ocean covering the entire Earth, assuming the ocean instantly responds to these forces. This model provides a baseline for understanding the solar component of actual tides. It predicts two high tides and two low tides per day.
