A natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, that flows towards an ocean, sea, lake, or another river. Rivers are integral components of the hydrological cycle, transporting water, sediment, and dissolved substances across landscapes. Their flow regimes are influenced by precipitation, evaporation, and geological factors within their drainage basins.
