A geographical depression or area of land drained by a river and its tributaries, characterized by a common outlet for all surface water runoff. In meteorology, it can also refer to a large-scale atmospheric depression or a region where air converges. Hydrological basins, also known as watersheds, are fundamental units for water resource management and flood forecasting.
An area having a common outlet for its surface runoff. Also called a "Drainage Basin."
