Instantaneous field of view
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006566
The specific area or solid angle that a sensor or detector observes at a single moment in time, determining the spatial resolution of the measurement. For remote sensing instruments on satellites or aircraft, this defines the size of the pixel or footprint on the Earth's surface from which data is collected. A smaller instantaneous field of view provides higher spatial detail in atmospheric imagery.
