Crest stage

The highest water level or elevation reached by a body of water, such as a river or stream, during a flood or high-flow event. This peak level is a key parameter in flood forecasting, hydrology, and the design of hydraulic structures. The crest stage is measured by instruments like a crest gauge or continuously monitored by a stream gauge, and is reported in feet or meters above a specific datum.
