Cumuliform

Describing clouds that are heaped, puffy, or lumpy in appearance, with flat bases and vertical development. These clouds form in unstable air where rising thermal currents, or convection, create their characteristic dome-like shapes. The family of cumuliform clouds includes cumulus, cumulonimbus, and altocumulus, which can produce precipitation ranging from light showers to severe thunderstorms.
