Dustfall jars
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005194
Simple, open-mouthed containers used to collect particulate matter that settles out of the atmosphere over a specific period. These jars are typically filled with distilled water or an anti-algal solution to prevent re-entrainment of collected dust. The collected material is then analyzed to determine the mass and composition of deposited dust, providing a measure of ambient air quality.
