Emission factor

A representative value that relates the quantity of a pollutant released to the atmosphere with an activity associated with its release. These factors are typically expressed as the mass of pollutant per unit of activity, such as kilograms of carbon dioxide per liter of fuel consumed. They are widely used in emission inventories and air quality modeling.
