Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005722

The science and practice of managing forests and woodlands, with relevance to atmospheric science through the study of biosphere-atmosphere interactions. Forest canopies influence the planetary boundary layer, affect local and regional weather patterns through evapotranspiration, and play a major part in the global carbon cycle. Meteorological data is also a primary input for forest fire danger rating systems and for modeling the dispersion of smoke from wildfires.
