Kinematical analysis

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010584

The study of the motion of the atmosphere without considering the forces that cause the motion. This analysis focuses on describing fields of motion, such as wind velocity, divergence, and vorticity, using observational data. Kinematical methods are applied to weather maps and numerical model output to identify features like jets, fronts, and areas of convergence that lead to weather development.
