Mud rain

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007439

Precipitation that contains a noticeable amount of dust or soil particles, giving it a muddy appearance. This phenomenon occurs when strong winds lift fine particulate matter from arid or dusty regions into the atmosphere, where it mixes with cloud droplets or snowflakes. The particles are then washed out by rain, often leaving a residue on surfaces.
