Nephoscope
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007506
An instrument used to observe the direction and speed of cloud movement. Early versions, such as the comb nephoscope, used a series of parallel bars to track cloud motion against a background. Modern nephoscopes often involve optical or photographic techniques to provide more precise measurements of cloud velocity and direction.
