Peesash

A local name for a cold, strong, down-valley wind that blows through the Columbia River Gorge in the Pacific Northwest. The term originates from the language of the Yakama people. This wind occurs when a high-pressure system is situated over the cold interior basin, forcing dense, cold air westward through the gorge toward the lower pressure region near the coast.
