Pentad

A period of five consecutive days used in meteorology and climatology for averaging atmospheric data. This grouping provides a temporal resolution between daily values and weekly or monthly averages, smoothing out daily noise while retaining sub-monthly variability. The year is divided into 73 pentads, with the last one in a leap year containing six days.
