Pip

A spot of light or a distinct blip on a radar display screen that indicates the presence of a reflecting object or target. In meteorology, a pip represents an echo from precipitation, such as a rain shower or thunderstorm. The term originated with early A-scope and Plan Position Indicator (PPI) radar displays where targets appeared as sharp vertical spikes or bright dots.
