Pluvial index

A numerical value that quantifies the wetness or dryness of a period based on precipitation data. It provides a standardized measure for comparing rainfall anomalies over different regions or timeframes. One common pluvial index is the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), which uses a gamma distribution to normalize precipitation totals.
