Porlezzina

A cold and often violent wind that blows onto Lake Lugano from the Val d'Intelvi in northern Italy. This wind is named after the town of Porlezza, located at the northeastern end of the lake where the valley opens out. The Porlezzina is a type of gap wind, funneling through the valley and accelerating as it descends towards the lake surface, creating hazardous conditions for boaters.
