Radio frequency
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008324
The portion of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths from about 1 millimeter to 100 kilometers, corresponding to frequencies from 3 kilohertz to 300 gigahertz. In meteorology, specific bands are allocated for weather radar, radiosondes, and satellite communications for collecting and transmitting atmospheric data. These frequencies are regulated by international agreements, such as those from the International Telecommunication Union, to prevent interference between different services.
