Rain cloud

A cloud from which precipitation in the form of rain is falling or is expected to fall. These clouds are typically nimbostratus or cumulonimbus, characterized by their dark appearance and considerable vertical or horizontal extent. Nimbostratus clouds produce widespread, steady rain, while cumulonimbus clouds are associated with showery precipitation and thunderstorms.
