Praecipitatio

A supplementary cloud feature consisting of precipitation, in the form of rain, snow, or ice pellets, that falls from a cloud and reaches the Earth's surface. This feature is distinguished from virga, where precipitation evaporates before reaching the ground. Praecipitatio can be observed with many cloud genera, including Altostratus, Nimbostratus, Stratocumulus, Stratus, Cumulus, and Cumulonimbus.
