Frozen precipitation

Any form of precipitation that falls to the Earth's surface as ice, including snow, sleet (ice pellets), and hail. These forms occur when atmospheric temperatures throughout the cloud and below are at or below freezing. Freezing rain, while liquid when it falls, freezes upon contact with surfaces and is also considered a type of frozen precipitation.
