Frozen turbulence

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005846

A theoretical concept in fluid dynamics where the turbulent eddies are assumed to be advected by the mean flow without changing their internal structure. This approximation simplifies the analysis of turbulent flows, particularly in situations where the advection timescale is much shorter than the eddy evolution timescale. It is often applied in studies of atmospheric boundary layer turbulence.
