Lagrangian timescale
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006842
A measure of the characteristic time over which a fluid parcel's velocity remains correlated with its initial velocity. It quantifies the persistence of a fluid parcel's motion before it is significantly altered by turbulent eddies or other forces. This timescale is often used in studies of atmospheric dispersion and turbulent diffusion.
