Lake breeze
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-001497
A localized wind system that develops near large lakes, driven by differential heating between the land and the water. During the day, the land heats faster than the water, creating lower pressure over land and drawing cooler air from the lake inland. This circulation is analogous to a sea breeze.
A thermally produced wind blowing during the day from the surface of a large lake to the shore, caused by the difference in the rates of heating of the surfaces of the lake and of the land.
