A dry, warm, and often gusty wind that descends the slopes of the Apennine Mountains in Italy, particularly affecting the Adriatic coast. It forms when stable air is forced over the mountains, warming adiabatically as it descends on the leeward side. This wind is analogous to the Foehn wind found in other mountainous regions.
