Axisymmetric turbulence

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003759

Turbulent fluid motion where the statistical properties of the turbulence are invariant under rotation about a specific axis. This implies that the average characteristics of the turbulent eddies are the same in all directions perpendicular to the axis. It is a theoretical idealization used in studying certain types of atmospheric boundary layer flows or vortex structures.
