Homogeneous turbulence
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006267
A theoretical state of fluid turbulence where the statistical properties of the flow, such as mean velocity and Reynolds stresses, are uniform throughout the entire domain. This idealization implies that there are no spatial variations in the turbulent characteristics. While rarely observed perfectly in nature, it serves as a foundational concept for developing and testing turbulence models in atmospheric science.
