Optically homogeneous
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007718
Describing a medium in which the refractive index is uniform throughout, meaning light travels at the same speed and in the same direction at all points. In an optically homogeneous atmosphere, light rays would travel in straight lines without bending due to variations in air density. Real atmospheres are rarely perfectly homogeneous due to temperature and pressure gradients.
